Ryan Chivers and Knut Wilmott put on 263 for the 2nd wicket in 5th Grade vs Campbelltown-Camden at Tonkin Oval – the then club record partnership for the 2nd wicket.

Shane Watson made his 1st Grade debut vs Eastern Suburbs at Waverley Oval. The first four in the batting order were Shane Watson, Nic Maddinson, Steve Smith & Phil Jaques.

12 February 1989

Sutherland won the Poidevin-Gray Shield, defeating Randwick at Caringbah Oval. The team was captained by Tony Clark. NRL CEO Todd Greenburg scored 20 for Randwick.

Keith Meadows took 6-38 in the first innings vs Campbelltown at Tonkin Oval. He went on to take 5-50 in the second innings the following week, giving him match figures of 11-88.

Martin Carroll took 6-25 & 3-28 in P-G Shield vs University of NSW at Caringbah Oval – the best match figures for the club in P-G Shield.
