Qualifying Finals next weekend

1st Grade finished 6th and will play minor premiers Sydney University at University Oval. We were 10th on 40 pts and needed to beat Gordon (43), plus have Bankstown (44) lose to North Sydney, Easts (44) lose to Northern District and Mosman (41) lose to St.George. Bankstown & Easts had lost and Mosman were 5/266 off 40 overs, needing another 22 off 4 overs to win. They lost 3-17 in those 4 overs, so we were in!! We won our last two matches, while Bankstown, Easts & Gordon all lost their last two.

5th Grade finished as minor premiers and will play Penrith at Glenn McGrath Oval next weekend. We were 2nd on 66 pts, with UNSW 1st on 70. UNSW scored 9/155 and then Parramatta scored 7/100 off 31.1 overs to win a rain-reduced match. We thus jumped back to 1st place!

2nd Grade finished in 8th place on 50 points, four points behind 6th place. This was a great improvement on the last two seasons when we finished last both times, with only 2 wins in 16-17 & no wins last season.

3rd Grade finished in 9th place on 44 points, 10 behind 6th place. This was another great improvement on the last two seasons when we finished last in 17-18 & second last in 16-17.

4th Grade finished in 11th place on 44 points, 13 behind 6th place. This was also a good improvement on the last two seasons when we finished 14th in 17-18 & 18th in 16-17.

In the Club Championship, we finished 9th – a very pleasing improvement on the last two seasons when we finished 16th in 17-18 and 17th in 16-17. The top 10 clubs were:

Sydney University 1624, Penrith 1369, Parramatta 1235, Eastern Suburbs 1228, Sydney 1175, Manly-Warringah 1158, Bankstown 1076, Gordon 1033, Sutherland 1022, Northern District 1021.

Congratulations to everyone who played for SDCC this season – it has been a most enjoyable season. Now we need to support 1sts at University Oval and 5ths at GMO next weekend as they continue their quest for some more silverware!
