Ben Dwarshuis Award for Under 16 Player of the Season

This Award was known as the Ken Gardner Memorial Award for the last 29 years. The Committee decided that, to make the award more relevant to the current generation and after consultation with the Gardner family, the award will be renamed the BEN DWARSHUIS AWARD FOR UNDER 16 PLAYER OF THE SEASON.

Ben played three seasons of AW Green Shield and is the fifth local junior to play for Australia. He has now played 5 One Day Internationals and 3 T20 Internationals for Australia, plus 9 Sheffield Shield matches for NSW and one first class match for Australia A. He was a member of the Poidevin-Gray Shield premiership teams in 2011-12 & 2014-15 and was captain of the 1st Grade T20 team during the premiership season of 2018-19, although he missed the finals day due to a BBL practice match. He is the second highest wicket-taker for the Sydney Sixers, with 148 wickets at an average of 22.49 and a strike rate of 16.61. He is fourth on the list of matches played for the Sixers with 117. He has played 207 matches for the Club in all grades, scoring 4497 runs and taking 210 wickets, including 119 first grade matches for 2113 runs and 151 wickets.
